Crawford County law enforcement reported charges against a local man following a confession related to the death of Kevin Whitt. Gregory Whitt faces a first-degree murder accusation stemming from the incident.

Gregory Whitt was apprehended on August 21st and is currently incarcerated at the Crawford County Detention Center. His release is secured by a $1 million bond. The charges detail his alleged involvement in the death of his husband, Kevin Whitt.

Investigative records indicate that responding officers were alerted to a potential fatality on the morning of August 20th. Upon arrival, personnel located Kevin Whitt deceased on the ground within a forested region close to Catcher Road in Van Buren. Forensic evidence included two Phillips-head screwdrivers found near the body.

According to internal department documents, Whitt provided statements acknowledging his responsibility for Kevin Whitt’s death to several detention officers. These admissions were captured on body-worn camera footage.

He admitted to using these items to stab Kevin and then employ manual asphyxiation, specifically mentioning he “flat-out choked him out.”
