The fatal incident happened on Saturday, August 23, 2025, on Ditch Bank Forest Road in Progress Township, located within Carlton County. According to the person who contacted emergency responders, two people were deceased at the scene.

Emergency personnel were dispatched after being notified of the accident. When responders arrived, they discovered the group members had found the pair. The vehicle involved was an all-terrain type machine that had flipped over, and it was discovered to be submerged in water.
