Law enforcement officials from the King County Medical Examiner’s Office officially identified the individual who was shot by police during a recent tactical operation. The 60-year-old man, Patrick Sathyanathan, was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries sustained from the exchange of fire with law enforcement personnel.
An alert was received just before 8:15 PM initiating a response to the 15800 block of Northrup Way. Reports indicated an individual, later identified as Sathyanathan, was experiencing a crisis and was discharging an airsoft replica firearm in the vicinity.
This volatile situation required the deployment of specialized tactical units, including heavily armored vehicles, and prompted nearby residents to seek refuge. Some individuals were ultimately forced to abandon their residences as safety precautions.
The confrontation lasted for several hours before concluding with what authorities described as an officer-involved shooting incident occurring at approximately 12:31 AM the following day. Fortunately, no other law enforcement officers or members of the public sustained any injuries during this event.
Official medical confirmation was provided on Friday evening, establishing Sathyanathan’s death as a direct consequence of the gunshot wound received during the incident. The King County Independent Force Investigation Team is currently conducting a thorough and impartial examination of the entire sequence of events surrounding this tragic incident.
