Official records from the arrest indicate a 18-year-old male was involved in a fatal altercation where he shot and killed Cory Starnes. The fatal shooting took place shortly before 9 p.m. in the Westwood Beach community within Henderson County.
The fatal shooting happened on Dogwood Trail, a road designated as CR 3105 located south of Chandler. Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse provided this information regarding the location.
The suspect, identified as Chuck Brady Norris, drove away from the scene in a silver Chevrolet Impala after the fatal shooting. Norris reportedly departed the area soon after the incident occurred.
First responders found Starnes lying lifelessly on the roadway. Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived at the scene and confirmed that Starnes had died from his injuries before they were pronounced by the medical professionals dispatched to the location.
According to available information from the arrest affidavit, an individual witnessed the entire sequence of events unfold. This witness observed Norris approaching the area, getting a weapon, and initiating a verbal confrontation near the home on Dogwood Trail. The witness specifically mentioned seeing flashes from a firearm being discharged.
Following the gunfire, Norris left the immediate vicinity of the incident. The narrative in the official document states that Norris departed the scene after the fatal shooting took place.
Subsequently, Norris contacted the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and turned himself in. Norris was then taken into custody and officially processed at the Henderson County Jail facility.
Law enforcement authorities have indicated that their ongoing investigation is still in progress.
