Fatal Alliance shooting death of Douglas Stinnette
Law enforcement agencies have confirmed the identities of the two individuals involved in the tragic incident that occurred in western Nebraska on Thursday. According to the Alliance Police Department, the 73-year-old man, identified as Douglas Stinnette, was responsible for the death of his 65-year-old wife, Melody Stinnette, before taking his own life.
Dispatchers received an emergency call around 11:10 a.m. regarding a disturbance in the area near Big Horn Avenue and West Seventh Street. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Melody Stinnette deceased outside the residence, while Douglas was found injured from a gunshot wound to the head.
Douglas was transported to Box Butte General Hospital with severe injuries before being airlifted to another medical facility in Scottsbluff. Despite the medical attention, authorities confirmed that Douglas Stinnette did not survive his injuries. The police department stated that an autopsy for Mr. Stinnette has been requested.
The events leading to this fatal shooting are still under investigation, though officials have officially closed the case following the death of the suspect.
