Fatal Weslaco motorcycle crash death of Giovanni Rios

Law enforcement authorities in Texas are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of a young man on Sunday. According to information released by the Texas Department of Public Safety, a single vehicle motorcycle incident occurred at 5:30 p.m. on Trinidad Lane, which is south of Mile 6 and a half Road, located west of the city of Alton.

The initial examination by state troopers indicates that a 2011 Honda CRF250F motorcycle, described as being red and white, was moving northbound on Trinidad Lane at a speed deemed unsafe for the conditions at that time.

A photograph provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety, South Texas Region, shows the motorcycle. The driver, confirmed to be Giovanni Rios, experienced a loss of control over the motorcycle. This led to the vehicle departing the roadway and impacting a curb.

Upon the collision with the curb, Rios was thrown from the motorcycle and subsequently hit a traffic light pole. First responders took him to Mission Regional Medical Center, but his injuries were ultimately fatal. Despite medical intervention, he did not survive.

State troopers continue to look into the details of this tragic incident.
