Fatal Mayfield shooting death of Jordan Riley

Police reports indicate a juvenile from Fulton, Kentucky, is connected to a shooting that interrupted the “Battle of the Birds” high school football contest in Mayfield earlier this year. Officials confirmed the suspect, identified as a 14-year-old, faces charges for the first-degree assault.

The incident happened during the fourth quarter. According to Mayfield Police, the 18-year-old victim, Jordan Riley from Farmington, Kentucky, was involved in a physical confrontation with the young suspect in a parking area adjacent to the War Memorial stadium.

Jordan Riley sustained injuries from the gunfire. Medical personnel transported him first to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and subsequently airlifted him to a treatment facility in Nashville for continued care.

The 14-year-old suspect is currently being held at a juvenile detention facility.
