Police officials are now looking for anyone who might have seen the accident that occurred on Monday. The unfortunate incident resulted in the death of a woman. She was 61 years of age.
Identifying the person is Veronica Hoen. Locally, it was mentioned that she was connected to the field of arts education, particularly through her work with the Irish Prison Service. This was noted by friends and colleagues.
In the year 2016, an organization she was involved with put together and displayed an event titled “Project 16: Studying the Rising.” This showcase took place at the Mountjoy Prison facility in Dublin. Her role in this was significant.
The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, offered praise for her efforts when the project was unveiled. He highlighted her careful work on selecting and arranging “artistic projects” made by inmates. These projects were intended to remember the events of the Easter Rising in 1916.
Ms Hoen made her home in the Glanmire area. Following her passing, a post on the Glanmire community notice board described her as a “cheerful and friendly person”. This person was liked by many and will definitely be missed.
The accident involving her vehicle happened in the Dunkettle Ballinglanna part of Glanmire. It took place around 1:50 pm on Monday. At the scene, it was confirmed that she did not survive the incident.
Because of the technical examination required, the nearby road had to be closed for a short time. Garda experts were involved in this process. Thankfully, the road has now been opened up again for people to travel on.
Those investigating the situation are asking for help from anyone who might have information about what happened. Witnesses are being urged to come forward.
