Fatal Cleveland drowning death of Albert Lenz

Cleveland authorities reported a tragic incident occurring at Edgewater Beach on Monday. Emergency services were dispatched to the area following reports around 5:30 p.m. that a body had been located in the water. The victim was identified as Albert Lenz, a 72-year-old resident of Bratenahl.

Multiple agencies, including Cleveland Metroparks Police, Fire Department personnel, Emergency Medical Services crews, and the U.S. Coast Guard, responded swiftly to the scene. Rescuers attempted to provide aid to Lenz, but his injuries ultimately proved fatal. He was transported to a regional medical facility where he later passed away.

Cuyahoga County officials confirmed the identity of the deceased on Tuesday. Gerling, the communications director for Cleveland Metroparks, stated that recovery efforts were immediately initiated upon the discovery of the body. Despite the prompt response, the man did not survive the incident, which occurred in Lake Erie.
