According to Florence law enforcement, a female individual has tragically passed away following a vehicle collision with a grocery establishment on Saturday. The incident unfolded at Yasmin Halal Market, situated on Turfway Road, at roughly 5:01 p.m.
This specific retail outlet is housed within a compact shopping complex along the road and holds significant importance among the local Somali immigrant population in Florence, as reported by residents.
The market prominently displays signs indicating it offers “Halal meat, staple food items, beverages, Islamic apparel, and additional merchandise” to its customers.
Investigators confirmed that the offending motor vehicle was a gray Toyota Camry, which gained momentum and drove directly into the store, resulting in substantial damage to its main entrance facade.
Upon impact, the woman was unfortunately pinned beneath the car as the vehicle finally halted inside the building premises. Emergency services, including the Boone County coroner, were promptly dispatched to the location by WLWT news crews.
