Lincoln County authorities have confirmed the death of a 13-year-old boy who died after a golf cart accident occurred on Sunday afternoon. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported the vehicle was being operated by a 15-year-old girl when the golf cart veered off the road and overturned. Dawson Rapp, identified as a seventh-grade student at Lincoln County Middle School, was a passenger in the cart and was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

According to the sheriff’s department, Dawson was a seventh-grade student at Lincoln County Middle School. Law enforcement officials are continuing their investigation into the incident.

Lincoln County Schools has issued a statement regarding the tragic death of one of their students. “We are deeply saddened to share that our school community has suffered a heartbreaking loss with the passing of one of our seventh-grade students, Dawson Rapp, following a tragic accident over the weekend,” the statement read. “Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with Dawson’s family, friends, and everyone affected by this loss.”

The school district has also announced that counseling services will be made available to support students and staff at Lincoln County Middle School as they process this difficult time.
