A fatal collision between an Amtrak train and a vehicle claimed the lives of the couple, identified by the local Coroner’s Office. Officials confirmed the deceased individuals as Douglas “Chase” Craddock, aged 31, and Tavianna “Tavi” Ellegant, aged 24.
Both individuals hailed from Long Beach, Mississippi, according to Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer. The preliminary determination of the cause of death was blunt force trauma resulting from the incident.
Amtrak representatives informed WLOX-TV in Biloxi on Tuesday night that the accident transpired around 7 p.m. They stated that the car involved was blocking the tracks near Davis Avenue in Pass Christian.
Pass Christian Police Chief Darren Freeman informed the Gazebo Gazette that both Craddock and Ellegant were inside the vehicle at the time of the crash. Chief Freeman further noted that Ellegant, who was the passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene. However, Craddock was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
