GINO R. GIORDANO DIES IN FATAL SULLIVAN COUNTY PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT

Tragic pedestrian incident claims life of Gino R. Giordano

New York State Police recently dispatched to Sullivan County for a fatal pedestrian collision involving a motor vehicle. This tragic incident resulted in the death of one individual and involved one pedestrian and one automobile, as confirmed by the State Police investigation.

HARDWICK TOWN INCIDENT

The fatal pedestrian accident occurred on September 18th, 2025, in the town of Thompson, situated along the border between New York and Pennsylvania. According to a statement released by the New York State Police, troopers from the Wurtsboro and Liberty barracks responded to the scene at approximately 4:11 p.m.

The preliminary report details a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at a State Route 42 roundabout, which connects to the State Route 17 westbound on-ramp. The State Police investigation indicates the vehicle, a 2012 Ford pickup truck, was traveling southbound on State Route 42 and approached the yield sign at the roundabout.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Gino R. Giordano from Shohola, Pennsylvania, entered the roundabout intending to merge onto Route 17 westbound via the first exit. It was at this point the pedestrian was struck while crossing the roadway within a designated crosswalk.

KEN GHANA PARSONS INJURED

Emergency medical services arrived promptly at the scene and provided immediate life-saving treatment to the pedestrian, later identified as 56-year-old Ken Ghana Parsons from Monticello. Parsons was reported to have suffered critical injuries after being struck by the vehicle.

Parsons was transported via ambulance from the scene to Garnet Health Medical Center. Despite the emergency medical intervention provided at the scene and during transport, medical personnel pronounced Parsons deceased upon arrival at the hospital.

ONGOING INVESTIGATION

The State Police investigation into this fatal pedestrian incident continues. Authorities continue to gather information and may seek public assistance in identifying potential witnesses or obtaining additional evidence regarding the circumstances surrounding the collision.
