Dispatchers sent police officers to the vicinity of 25th and F streets in Omaha. They arrived around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday for a situation involving multiple vehicles.

Preliminary examination of the scene indicated a collision between a sedan and a pickup truck. The sedan was heading north on 25th Street. It stopped completely at a stop sign before entering the flow of traffic, which had the legal right of way.

The pickup truck, moving eastbound on F Street, struck the sedan from the side. Following this impact, the sedan crashed through a fence belonging to a neighboring residence.

The driver of the sedan, identified as John R. Vitols, was 86 years old. He was declared deceased at the scene after the collision.
