Ken Ghana Parsons, a 56-year-old resident of Monticello, died in a fatal Sullivan County car crash.

State police are investigating the death of a pedestrian following a collision on the Route 42/17 interchange in Sullivan County. The incident occurred after 4:10 PM on September 18th.

Preliminary findings from the state police indicate that a man, aged 24 and from Shohola, Pennsylvania, was operating a 2012 Ford pickup truck heading southbound on Route 42 within the Town of Thompson. Upon reaching the designated yield point at the roundabout, this vehicle entered the traffic circle intending to merge onto the Route 17 westbound ramp. During this maneuver, the truck contacted a pedestrian within a designated crosswalk area.

The victim, identified as Ken Ghana Parsons, sustained serious injuries as a direct result of the impact. Emergency medical personnel provided life-saving treatment at the scene before transporting Parsons to Garnet Health Medical Center in the Catskills region of Harris. Despite these efforts, medical staff later confirmed his death at the healthcare facility.

According to state police, their ongoing investigation into the incident continues.
