Fatal Lake Murray Recreation Area bicycle crash death of David Engler

Officials have confirmed the identity of a 68-year-old man who lost his life during a bicycle collision last week at the Lake Murray Recreation Area. David Engler, who resided in El Cajon, was cycling in the designated bike lane adjacent to the eastern San Diego municipal reservoir when he collided directly with another cyclist just before 7:30 a.m. on Friday, as stated by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to the agency’s findings, Mr. Engler succumbed to injuries resulting from blunt force trauma at the scene of the accident.
