A 39-year-old man has been confirmed as the motorcyclist who tragically lost their life in a severe frontal collision. The incident occurred on a designated roadway in Lothian, Maryland, this past Tuesday, September 23, 2025.
According to authorities, the individual was operating a crimson-colored Yamaha sport motorcycle in the wrong direction around 7:55 p.m. The collision resulted in the motorcycle being propelled into a wooded area, where it subsequently ignited. Medical professionals pronounced the man deceased at the scene.
A fourteen-year-old female passenger from the nearby town of Owings was airlifted to a medical facility in Baltimore. She is reported to be in a serious condition but is expected to recover fully. An important detail is that she was not secured with protective headgear during the accident.
The operator of the opposing vehicle, a 24-year-old male from St. Mary’s City, received medical attention as a preventive measure. He is currently in a stable health state and is not in immediate danger.
Deputies from Calvert County cited that they had initiated a pursuit earlier, which originated from Dunkirk. The chase concluded before the motorcycle crossed into the path of oncoming traffic, leading them to the crash site adjacent to Talbot Road.
Investigators with the Anne Arundel County department responsible for crash analysis are examining the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event. The full extent of the inquiry is still underway.
