State police were dispatched following a serious motor vehicle incident near a designated intersection in LaGrange, Indiana, occurring on Wednesday afternoon. Specifically, troopers arrived at the scene around 2:45 p.m. to investigate a collision involving five separate vehicles located on U.S. Route 20 close to County Road 350 West.

Investigators are of the opinion that the incident began with a 41-year-old woman operating a silver Kia, identified as Crystal Williams from Mishawaka, Indiana, who had her vehicle stationary on the westbound lanes of U.S. 20, situated near the crossing with County Road 350 West. Immediately following this vehicle was a blue Harley Davidson motorcycle, piloted by the 67-year-old David Zinkie from LaGrange. Subsequently, a maroon Chrysler Pacifica, driven by Melinda Smith, aged 35 and also from LaGrange, was halted behind the motorcycle.

The traffic congestion at this particular site was exacerbated by ongoing construction operations, which necessitated a reduction in speed and effectively brought vehicles to a standstill.
