Fatal Acton car crash death of Maximus Calzada

California Highway Patrol officers arrived at the crash scene around 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday after receiving reports of a serious head-on collision. The incident occurred on Sierra Highway, just south of Crown Valley Road. A black Infiniti Q50, driven by a man from Canyon Country, lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in the fatal crash. The driver of the other vehicle, a blue Honda Odyssey, was a 57-year-old man identified as S. Hernandez-Trinidad from Santa Clarita. The occupants of the Infiniti included Maximus Calzada, who was 22, and his 22-year-old front passenger, Pedro Gomez. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. A rear passenger, also 22 and from Canyon County, named G. Gonzalez, survived but was hospitalized with critical injuries. Hernandez-Trinidad was transported to a hospital with severe, but unspecified, injuries. The Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office confirmed Calzada and Gomez were not wearing seat belts when the collision happened. Toxicology tests are pending, and investigators are examining the reasons for the driver’s loss of control. Anyone with information about this fatal accident should contact CHP Antelope Valley Area Officer D. Morales at 661-743-6060, or the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200 for calls outside business hours.
