A 27-year-old man identified as Xavier Manzanares has died as a result of a shooting in Pueblo, according to county officials. This occurred on Wednesday.

The Pueblo Police Department stated that officers were examining a potential car theft situation in the 3000 block of West Northern Avenue around midday. At that time, they were alerted to a nearby disturbance involving firearms.

When police arrived at a connected business’s parking area, they encountered Manzanares suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a medical facility but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Police indicated that detectives are pursuing leads, including speaking with an individual they suspect fired the weapon.

This incident marks the tenth reported homicide in Pueblo during 2025, as reported by the police department.
