Fatal Livermore car crash death of Akram Ghazal
The authorities have officially identified the deceased man, Akram Ghazal, who lost his life in a severe collision on a highway located east of Livermore last Sunday morning. The Alameda County Coroner’s office confirmed that Ghazal, a 66-year-old resident of Tracy, was the person killed.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s reports from the Dublin area, Ghazal was pronounced dead at the scene after the accident happened on the eastbound section of Interstate 580, specifically on the Altamont Pass. Initial information stated he was operating his black Tesla Model Y when the incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, the 21st of September.
A white Honda Accord, piloted by a 21-year-old man from Stockton whose identity has not been disclosed, struck the rear of Ghazal’s vehicle. Law enforcement agencies suspect this driver was impaired by alcohol and/or drugs at the time of the accident. After receiving medical evaluation for his own injuries, the driver was taken into custody and processed at Santa Rita Jail.

It remains unclear whether the 21-year-old driver will face formal charges from the district attorney’s office.
