Fatal Madison Township car crash death of Elhadji Amadou Sow
Two men from Columbus have been identified as the victims killed when their sport utility vehicle collided with the rear of a stationary large truck. The collision occurred along Green Pointe Drive South in Madison Township.
Elhadji Amadaji Sow, aged twenty-seven, and Abdoulaye Ly, aged thirty, both residents of Columbus, lost their lives at the scene of the accident, which took place at approximately 3:30 p.m. on September 22nd. According to the Sheriff’s Office report.
The victims were occupants of a 2004 Honda CR-V, traveling northbound on Green Pointe Drive South. Their vehicle struck the back of a 2000 Freightliner semi-truck that was stopped, presumably waiting to access a nearby warehouse. The report indicates the necessity of rescue efforts to free Sow and Ly from the damaged SUV.
The sheriff’s investigation notes that Sow, who was behind the wheel, was observed to be traveling at “an elevated speed” at the moment of impact. Although the report doesn’t specify the vehicle’s speed, the posted limit on the road was 35 mph.
The operator of the semi-trailer truck sustained no injuries. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit is continuing its examination of the incident.
