Fatal Kalihi car crash death of John Amaral

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the individual who died in the Kalihi incident as John Amaral, a 44-year-old man. The Medical Examiner’s office has not yet released information regarding Amaral’s place of origin or the specific cause and manner of his death.

The accident took place on Tuesday evening around 7:30 p.m. near a Jack in the Box located on North King Street. According to the Honolulu Police Department, Amaral was traveling eastbound on North King Street when he lost control of his moped and was thrown from the vehicle. Police reports indicate that a 60-year-old driver, moving westbound, made a left turn and subsequently collided with Amaral. No further details have been provided at this time.
