New Haven authorities have officially confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life after colliding with a Connecticut Transit bus. The deceased is identified as Jordan Betancourt-Escorza, a 25-year-old resident of the city.

Emergency responders arrived at the crash site, located at the intersection of Middletown Avenue and Front Street, approximately 4:16 p.m. on Friday. According to the city police statement, they found Betancourt-Escorza injured at the scene.

Medical personnel from Fire Department units and American Medical Response provided immediate assistance before transporting the victim to Yale New Haven Hospital. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he later succumbed to his injuries, as reported by Officer Christian Bruckhart in the official statement.

Surveillance footage from the incident revealed that Betancourt-Escorza was operating a Volkswagen Golf, traveling south on Middletown Avenue. The video shows him crossing into the northbound lane and making a head-on collision with the CT Transit bus.

As a result of the accident, portions of Middletown Avenue, specifically between Clinton Avenue and Front Street, were temporarily closed to traffic by police.

In the hours following the first crash, law enforcement was called to a second incident later that evening. Police responded to a fatal accident involving a pedestrian, though the identity of the individual has not yet been released.
