Fatal Tucson car crash death of Michael Anthony Vela

The Santa Rita Fire District reported the unfortunate passing of a man following a serious accident on Saturday, the 30th of August.

According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the deceased was identified as Michael Anthony Vela, who was 37 years old and from Vail.

Emergency services were dispatched to a location on the southbound section of Interstate 19, specifically near the Sahuarita exit, due to reports of a significant collision.

Multiple 911 callers had informed authorities that a car had turned over, and that Michael Anthony Vela had been thrown from the vehicle during the incident.

Upon arrival at the scene, rescue teams discovered the car flipped onto its roof, with considerable damage to the structure.

Mr. Vela was transported to a nearby hospital, but his condition was critical, and he passed away the following day.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has confirmed that the cause of the accident is currently being investigated.
