Fatal Chicago shooting death of Stephan R. Hammond
Chicago authorities reported a fatal shooting incident occurred on the city’s North Side late on Friday night. Police responded to reports concerning gunfire in the Sheridan Park area, specifically the 1200-block of West Sunnyside Avenue, at approximately 11:50 p.m.
When emergency responders arrived, they found an 18-year-old male with severe injuries from being shot. Hammond was not responsive and was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where medical staff confirmed his death. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office officially identified the deceased individual as Stephan R. Hammond.
In the same location, responders also encountered a 27-year-old female who had sustained a gunshot wound to the arm. She was transported to the same medical facility and was reported to be in stable health upon arrival.
Investigators recovered four firearms from the crime scene. Currently, no individuals are being held in connection with the incident, and detectives from the Area Three division are actively pursuing leads in the investigation.
No additional details regarding the shooting were released by law enforcement at this time.
