Fatal Toronto shooting death of Shakur Clarke-Sargeant
Police have named a second individual connected to the death of 23-year-old Shakur Clarke-Sargeant, who was killed on September 15, 2025. A press conference regarding this case can be viewed online via a YouTube link.
On the evening of Monday, September 15, 2025, at around 10:21 p.m., Toronto officers were dispatched to the Kingston Road and Galloway Road area following a report of a shooting incident. According to preliminary reports, law enforcement arrived at the scene to find a man in his early twenties who had been shot. Medical personnel provided life-saving efforts, but the victim was pronounced deceased at the location. Before the arrival of police, the suspects fled the area.
The deceased has been identified as Shakur Clarke-Sargeant, a 23-year-old resident of Toronto.
On Tuesday, September 16, 2025, one male suspect was apprehended in connection with this ongoing investigation. The individual, Jeavon Quashie, who is 21 years old, was formally charged with First Degree Murder. He was scheduled to appear before a judge at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre located at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., in courtroom 103.
Further updates were provided on Monday, September 22, 2025, when investigators officially identified the second suspect wanted in this homicide case. Douvon Ellis, who is 18 years old and has no fixed address, is being sought under a warrant initially for the charge of First Degree Murder.
Law enforcement has secured court authorization to release a photograph of Ellis taken when he was younger, in accordance with Section 110 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act. This authorization is set to expire at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025. A picture identifying the suspect has been released, and he is also known by the nickname “Douvou.”
