On Saturday morning, a fatal shooting resulted in the death of one person and left a law enforcement officer with injuries. Memphis authorities reported the incident occurred early in the morning hours.

Around 2:25 a.m., police were dispatched to Northbridge Avenue near Ashwood Street following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers encountered a man who was discharging a firearm. The situation escalated when the individual aimed his weapon at one of the responding officers.

In response to the threat, another officer fired their weapon, leading to the man’s death. Emergency medical services were immediately involved, transporting the deceased to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The shooter has been identified as Vontorian Anthony, who was 34 years old at the time. One of the officers involved suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment, though they were expected to recover without further issues.
