Alexis Ann Newcomb, a 21-year-old woman, lost her life in a severe traffic collision that occurred on her birthday in Griswold. According to state police, the incident involved a head-on impact with another vehicle. Newcomb was a passenger in a white 2021 Tesla Model Y at the time of the accident. Emergency services transported her to William W. Backus Hospital, but she was declared deceased upon arrival.

Investigators reported that the crash happened on Preston Road, where another, gray 2024 Tesla Model Y crossed from the southbound lane into the northbound path, resulting in the collision. Both drivers involved in the accident suffered only slight injuries, though the extent of their conditions is yet to be fully assessed. The Connecticut State Police are currently examining the circumstances surrounding the deadly crash to determine any contributing factors.
