Fatal Lubbock shooting death of Deon Lilly
The Lubbock Police Division issued a statement concerning a nighttime disturbance in the western part of Lubbock. Initially, officers were dispatched to reports of a boisterous celebration on 76th Street in the 5500 area around 11:00 PM. At approximately 12:44 AM, they received a second call about gunfire at the same spot. Upon returning to the location, authorities found one individual with a wound caused by a bullet. Emergency medical services transferred the person to University Medical Center, and healthcare providers later confirmed the individual’s death. The deceased has been identified as Deon Lilly, who was 20 years old. Additionally, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported a single death on Highway 87 in Lubbock. Further details include that 18-year-old Adysen Gardner was admitted to the hospital with a serious injury from a gunshot, arriving via a personal vehicle. A second person, whose identity is not disclosed, was treated for minor cuts on the arm at another medical facility due to the same event. The Lubbock Police Department mentioned that no arrests have been completed, as the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit proceeds with its inquiry.
