Fatal Butterworth stabbing death of Lee Boon Han

The body of a man, Lee Boon Han, was located inside a suitcase located in Butterworth, Penang, on Thursday, October 9th.

Local media reports indicated that Mr. Lee’s hands were secured with ties, and there were incised wounds on his neck.

Seberang Perai Utara police chief, Anuar Abdul Rahman, informed local media in a statement that his division received a notification regarding this discovery approximately at 1:43 pm on that day.

According to Anuar, the suitcase containing the body was located by a drain cleaner while performing regular tasks near a residential building. The suitcase was then transported to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Malaysian publication Sinar Harian reported that the victim was identified as Lee Boon Han, a 31-year-old insurance agent.

An AsiaOne search revealed Lee worked as a Life Planning Advisor at Great Eastern and was active on social media, styling himself as an “Insurance Content Creator”.

Lee’s father, aged 69, reported his son missing on Wednesday after being unable to get in touch with him following his departure on a work-related journey to Perlis.

The Star newspaper reported that the father was at the hospital around 9 am on Friday to view the body.

Initial examinations by police and the forensic team suggested the victim had been recently murdered, yet authorities are still investigating whether the killing occurred elsewhere before his body was prepared and concealed, as per Sinar Harian.
