Terrel Byars Jr., a teenage student in the East Allegheny School District, died after being struck by a vehicle in West Mifflin on Saturday, authorities reported. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Kennywood Boulevard near Glenn Street to Hoffman Boulevard, prompting temporary road closures.

Byars was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The East Allegheny School District confirmed his identity and announced that grief counseling would be available at Logan Elementary through Turtle Creek Valley Community Service, with additional support provided when school resumes on January 5.
