Fatal Sacramento Christmas Day crash death of Estevan Whitfield – Obituary

Authorities have identified 37-year-old Estevan Whitfield of Sacramento as the man who died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Magic Mountain Parkway on Thursday evening. The L.A. County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that Whitfield was pronounced dead at the scene after being struck by one of the vehicles involved.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers first responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash around 5:27 p.m. Additional calls indicated that a white Dodge was stopped facing the wrong way in the No. 1 lane, blocking traffic. A Toyota managed to stop to avoid the Dodge, but was later rear-ended by a Jeep.

As a GMC traveled northbound I-5 south of Magic Mountain Parkway, it was unable to stop in time and collided with the already-stopped vehicles. Whitfield, the driver of the Toyota, was struck and received life-saving measures from first responders but did not survive. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash is ongoing.
