Fatal Mayfield Heights, Ohio shooting death of Phillip Longino Jr. – Obituary
Phillip Longino Jr., a 16-year-old student at Ginn Academy in Cleveland, was shot and killed on Sunday evening near the entrance of Raising Cane’s in Mayfield Heights. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. in the 5500 block of Mayfield Road following a physical altercation involving multiple juveniles inside the restaurant.
Emergency responders transported Longino to Cleveland Clinic-Hillcrest Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The tragedy has deeply affected the Cleveland Metropolitan School District community, which has offered counseling resources to support students and staff during this difficult time.
Mayfield Heights police have taken two individuals into custody in connection with the shooting: a 14-year-old boy from South Euclid and an 18-year-old man from Cleveland. Charges have not been disclosed. Authorities continue to investigate the incident and urge anyone with information to contact the Mayfield Heights Police Department Detective Bureau.
