Fatal Washington, D.C. shooting death of Roy Lee Bennett Jr. – Obituary

Roy Lee Bennett Jr., 20, of Northeast Washington, D.C., was fatally shot on December 5 inside an apartment on the 300 block of Morse Street. Metropolitan Police officers responded around 8:08 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting and found Bennett unconscious and not breathing from gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts by DC Fire and EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

On December 30, authorities announced the arrest of 16-year-old Keyonte Johnson of Bladensburg, Maryland. Johnson was charged as an adult with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated) following an arrest executed by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant. The investigation into the incident continues.
