Fatal Jacksonville, Fla. car crash death of Derek A. George – Obituary
A 16-year-old boy, Derek A. George, tragically lost his life in a car accident Thursday night on R.G. Skinner Parkway, near the intersection of Interstate 295 and Baymeadows Road. The incident occurred at 8 p.m., and Derek was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Derek’s death has been met with an outpouring of grief on social media. His friend, Jacob Monoson, shared a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, posting a photo of Derek in a blue dress shirt and tie. “R.I.P Derek George,†Monoson wrote. “I’m so sad to see you go like this. We had great times and many memories growing up together, you were a great guy and friend who always kept a smile on your face no matter what. Life was just too short for you and today was your last breath. You will be truly missed.â€
According to police, Derek was driving a Nissan Maxima northbound in the 9100 block of Skinner Parkway when he lost control, veering off the road and crashing into a tree. The incident is still under investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide division.
