Fatal Gaffney gas death of James Raymond Rennie and Debroah Rennie Drum – Obituary

A tragic discovery was made in a Gaffney home on New Year’s Day, where two residents were found dead. James Raymond Rennie, 71, and Debroah Rennie Drum, 76, were found inside their home on the 200 block of Trenton Road. According to Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler, the deaths are believed to have resulted from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Around 5 p.m., neighbors reported being unable to reach Rennie and Drum, prompting a police response. Upon arriving at the scene, officers noticed a strong smell of natural gas emanating from the home. After forcibly entering, the Gaffney Fire Department shut off the gas supply and ventilated the area.

Rennie and Drum were discovered in separate bedrooms and were pronounced dead at the scene. There is no suspicion of foul play, and autopsies are being conducted as part of the investigation into their deaths. The coroner’s office continues to look into the incident.
