Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania Man Robert Donald Naugle Jr. Arrested in Westmoreland County for Fatal Shooting
HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Robert Donald Naugle Jr., an adult resident of Hempfield Township, was arrested in Westmoreland County in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on New Year’s Eve.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Naugle was taken into custody on Tuesday after troopers responded to a home in the 300 block of Hugh Street at around 8:30 p.m. Authorities say the incident occurred on New Year’s Eve and involved the shooting death of another man inside the residence.
Court documents state that Naugle identified himself as the caller to 911 and admitted to shooting the victim, later identified as James Thomas. Troopers reported that Naugle confessed to the shooting during an interview and indicated he intended for the victim to die.
Naugle was transported to the Westmoreland County Prison, where he is being held on a charge of criminal homicide related to the incident.
