LYNDHURST, N.J. — Thair Maroki, a 40-year-old resident of El Cajon, California, was arrested in Bergen County in connection with a fatal e-bike hit-and-run that occurred late last month in Burlington County.
According to Mount Laurel police, Maroki was taken into custody on Thursday by Lyndhurst police after investigators identified a white SUV with California license plates believed to have fled the scene. Authorities say the incident occurred early Dec. 29 along Route 73 South, near a Rodeway Inn on Rogers Walk Boulevard, where 49-year-old Anthony Caprio III of Magnolia was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Maroki was transported to a Bergen County detention facility and is currently facing second-degree charges of vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal accident related to the crash.
