Fatal Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, Va. car crash death of Thomas Wiley – Obituary

HAMPTON ROADS, Va. — Thomas Wiley, 39, of Virginia Beach, was killed Monday morning after his disabled vehicle was struck inside the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel. The crash occurred just before 2:40 a.m. on eastbound Interstate 64.

According to Virginia State Police, Wiley’s Nissan Altima suffered a blown tire and became immobile in the tunnel. A speeding Acura MDX, driven by a 36-year-old Newport News man, collided with the Altima, ejecting Wiley, who died at the scene. The Acura driver was injured and taken to a local hospital. Authorities are consulting with the Hampton Commonwealth’s Attorney regarding possible charges, and the investigation remains ongoing.
