Tucson police have confirmed that Angela Marie King, 28, lost her life following a two-vehicle collision that occurred Sunday night in midtown Tucson. The crash also left two other individuals injured, though their wounds were not considered life-threatening.

Officers with the Tucson Police Department’s Midtown Operations Division, along with Tucson Fire Department crews, were dispatched to the intersection of Fort Lowell Road and Alvernon Way at approximately 7:05 p.m. on January 18 after reports of a serious traffic accident. Investigators said the collision involved a 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage and a 2017 Jeep Wrangler.

Angela Marie King, who was driving the Mitsubishi, was pronounced dead at the scene despite emergency response efforts. Authorities stated that the Jeep was occupied by a 23-year-old male driver and a 17-year-old passenger. Both individuals reportedly ran from the crash site but were later located and taken into custody nearby with assistance from police K9 units and air support. They were transported to Banner University Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Based on witness accounts and physical evidence collected from the roadway, traffic detectives determined that the Jeep had been traveling westbound on Fort Lowell Road at a speed exceeding the posted 35 mph limit. Investigators believe the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane, where it collided head-on with King’s car.

The case remains under active investigation. Police said potential charges will be considered once additional test results are received and after the injured occupants are released from the hospital. Further updates are expected as authorities continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
