D’Juan Brown, 21, of Antioch, was one of three people killed early Sunday morning in a violent wrong-way collision on westbound Interstate 80 in Fairfield, California, authorities confirmed.
According to the California Highway Patrol’s Solano County division, the deadly crash occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. east of the Cordelia Weigh Station and led to the closure of the roadway for approximately five hours.
Investigators said the initial collision involved a white Dodge Charger carrying two men and a black Land Rover driven by a woman. The impact was severe, and all three occupants of the two vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to Brown, the victims were identified as 21-year-old Douglas McClain and 34-year-old Sweta Burathoki of Vacaville.
While officials have not yet confirmed which vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction, witnesses reported seeing a light-colored sedan driving against traffic shortly before the crash.
A second collision occurred moments later when a black Tesla Model Y struck a red Toyota Tacoma in the same area. The driver of the Toyota sustained suspected minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Authorities said impairment was ruled out in the second crash.
