Authorities in Milwaukee reported that 67-year-old Patrick Kelly Davis was fatally shot outside an apartment near 38th and North on Tuesday, January 13. According to police, Davis suffered a gunshot wound to the chest following an argument with Nathaniel Richards, 67, over a woman.

A witness told investigators that she had arrived at the apartment minutes before the incident to buy drugs from Richards, known to her as “Nate.” When Davis arrived, he began arguing with Richards, who then retrieved a firearm from a bedroom. As Davis attempted to leave, the witness said she heard a single gunshot.

Another person inside the apartment confirmed seeing Richards armed with a small black handgun and said the confrontation moved outside, where the gunshot occurred. The friend who brought Davis to the apartment also reported hearing the shot and watching Richards leave in a red Jeep before calling 911.

Police arrested Richards the following day at his Brookfield residence, recovering two firearms, ammunition, over $62,000 in cash, and in his Jeep, two cellphones and roughly 206 grams of cocaine. Richards faces a charge of first-degree reckless homicide and is scheduled for his initial court appearance on Tuesday, January 20.
