Fatal North Charleston, South Carolina workplace electrocution death of Rolando Louis Mucu – Obituary

Rolando Louis Mucu, 34, was killed on January 6 while performing work in North Charleston, South Carolina, in a tragic incident that also claimed the life of his co-worker, 26-year-old Jose Tec Chub.

 

Authorities reported that both men were contract workers hired to install gutters on a building. While operating in a hydraulic boom lift, the basket they were in came into contact with live power lines. The Charleston County Coroner, Bobbie Jo O’Neal, confirmed that Mucu and Chub were pronounced dead at the scene.

 

First responders arriving at the location discovered the two men entangled in the power lines and engulfed in flames. Firefighters were unable to extinguish the fire until personnel from Dominion Power arrived and cut electricity to the lines.

 

The incident is part of a recent series of workplace fatalities nationwide, highlighting the dangers construction workers face when handling electrical equipment and working at heights. Local authorities and investigators are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the accident.
