Hayden Jones, 22, of Oklahoma, was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Waukegan on Monday evening. The crash occurred on the 1100 block of South Lewis Avenue around 6:31 p.m., according to local authorities.

Police and emergency crews found Jones’ car off the roadway after it had left the street, struck a fence, and collided with nearby trees. During the crash, a fence pole penetrated the windshield, fatally injuring Jones, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Jones, who was stationed at Naval Station Great Lakes, suffered blunt force trauma to the head, as confirmed by an autopsy. Waukegan Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
