Fatal Whitman County, Washington car crash death of Angelina D’Amato – Obituary

Angelina D’Amato, a 22-year-old woman from Pullman, lost her life following a serious traffic collision on State Route 195 in Whitman County, according to the Washington State Patrol. The crash occurred Friday afternoon near the Albion Road area and involved a passenger vehicle and a semi truck.

State Patrol officials said D’Amato was a passenger in a 2009 Toyota Corolla that attempted to cross SR 195 from Albion Road toward Hamilton Hill Road. As the vehicle entered the intersection, it failed to yield the right of way and was struck broadside by a southbound semi truck that was traveling within the posted speed limit.

The impact forced the Toyota off the roadway, where it came to rest in a nearby field. D’Amato was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, identified as 20-year-old Vincent Long of Maple Valley, suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center, where authorities said he remains hospitalized in a coma.

Investigators confirmed that all individuals involved were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The driver of the semi truck was not injured.

The roadway was closed for several hours as emergency crews responded and investigators processed the scene. SR 195 later reopened once cleanup operations were completed. The Washington State Patrol continues to review the incident, though officials stated that impairment is not believed to have played a role in the crash.
