Fatal Jefferson Parish motorcycle crash death of Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer – Obituary
Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer, a Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy, was killed following a motorcycle collision that occurred in the Hollygrove area of New Orleans. Authorities confirmed that Ohlmeyer, 41, of River Ridge, lost his life while on duty during a funeral procession.
Ohlmeyer had dedicated nearly 15 years of service to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, working in multiple divisions throughout his career. After graduating from the agency’s training academy in August 2014, he was assigned to the Fourth District, where he served the Eastbank community for more than a decade.
In 2025, Ohlmeyer transitioned to the Traffic Division and recently earned his qualification as a motorcycle officer. Colleagues described him as a committed deputy who took pride in his role protecting the public.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the 9200 block of Airline Highway. Police said Ohlmeyer was riding his department-issued motorcycle as part of a funeral escort when a vehicle struck him from behind.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Ohlmeyer is survived by his wife, Desiree, and his two children, Gavin and Olivia. The incident remains under active investigation by local authorities.
