Fatal Kenton County officer-involved shooting death of David Works – Obituary

David Works, 62, was killed in an officer-involved shooting early Sunday morning in Independence, Kentucky. He died after being shot by police following a confrontation at his residence on Sharpsburg Drive.

Kentucky State Police reported that officers from the Independence Police Department responded to a call from Works, who was threatening self-harm. When officers arrived, they attempted to speak with him, but Works exited his home carrying a firearm. This led to officers discharging their weapons. Emergency responders attempted first aid at the scene, but Works succumbed to his injuries.

No officers were injured during the incident. Kentucky State Police are conducting the investigation and have taken jurisdiction over the case. Authorities have not released additional details as the inquiry continues.
