Fatal Vermont snowmobile crash death of Laurie Jackson – Obituary
Laurie Jackson, a 50-year-old woman from Proctorsville, lost her life following a snowmobile accident that occurred Saturday afternoon in Brighton, Vermont, according to state authorities.
Vermont State Police said they received a report of a serious snowmobile crash at approximately 12:55 p.m. on VAST Trail 2001. When troopers arrived at the scene, they found Jackson suffering from severe injuries after her snowmobile left the trail and struck multiple trees.
Emergency responders attempted life-saving efforts at the scene before transporting Jackson to North Country Hospital in Newport. Despite medical treatment, she was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Investigators determined that Jackson had been traveling northbound on the trail near Meadow Street when she was unable to safely navigate a left-hand curve. Her snowmobile veered off the right side of the trail, where it collided with a group of trees. Police said she was operating a 2001 Skidoo Renegade and was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Authorities noted that trail conditions were groomed and considered to be in fair condition. No additional details were released as the investigation remained ongoing.
