Randy Meredith was killed Saturday evening after a shooting at an apartment complex in Blue Springs, Missouri, police confirmed. Randy Meredith, 38, was pronounced dead after officers found him suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.

The Blue Springs Police Department said officers were called to the Woods Chapel Lodge apartments on Arlington Place at around 8 p.m. following a report that a man had been shot. When police arrived, they located Meredith, who had sustained fatal injuries.

Investigators indicated the initial report suggested the victim had been shot by a person connected to a domestic dispute involving a family member. Authorities have not released further details about what led up to the gunfire.

A 20-year-old resident of Blue Springs was taken into custody in connection with the incident. Police said the investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.
